  • Information Sheets and Q&As for the Discussion Paper
    August 2006
This set of information sheets provides brief descriptions of the key aspects of the Discussion Paper and the proposed design of a national emissions trading scheme. The Q&As are intended to answer common questions with respect to emissions trading, the proposed design and the Taskforce’s objectives.
  • Modelling reports supporting the Discussion Paper
    August 2006
The Taskforce commissioned economic modelling to examine the potential implications of the indicative scheme caps on the electricity sector and the broader Australian economy, and to inform the development of the Discussion Paper. The work undertaken to date is informative, providing a sound indication of the likely order of magnitude impacts. However, this work is only a first step towards understanding the impacts of key design choices such as the scheme cap and coverage. Further modelling, informed by stakeholder feedback, will be undertaken to assist in the development of a scheme design that best maintains Australia's economic growth and prosperity.
